PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED REPUBLIC OF TANZANIA
STATE HOUSE

THE RESOURCES OF TANGANYIKA SPENT ON THE UNION AFFAIRS AS FROM 26/4/ 1964 AND HELPED THE ZANZIBARI GOVERNMENT TO DATE
This is to ask you urgently to furnish us with the facts and figures as regards the following:
- How much has ever been contributed by each side of the
union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar from 26th April 1964 to date, to finance the
union services including the ministries of Defense , Home affairs, foreign
Affairs, Higher education, etc.
- How much has been dished out by our treasury to bail
the Zanzaibar Govt out of budgetary constraints, such as payment of the salaries
of its government workers or meeting its other emergency
requirements.
- The cost of Tanganyika's electricity which the state of
Zanzibar enjoyed gratis from Tanganyika for all the years.
- The amount of finances which our treasury has spent on
the Zanzibari parliamentarians in the parliament of Tanganyika (labeled as union
parliament), including the expenses on their election, their outfit allowances,
their monthly remunerations, their sitting allowances for the bunge sessions,
the expenses on their vehicle loans, their medical expenses, their colossal
retirement benefits and all other privileges which the Zanzibaris enjoyed from
the sweat of the people of Tanganyika in the guise of the "Union".
- The amount of money which our treasury has dished out to the political parties and/or Zanzibari politicians, be them under the umbrella of the ruling party or the opposition parties.
Your excellency, the information is urgently required for our extremely urgent public interest moves which are underway, which touch on the inalienable right of the people of Tanganyika to their self determination, which is a basic ingredient of their humanity.
We thank you very much for your anticipated maximum cooperation, which will be very contributory to the consolidation of the independence of the people of Tanganyika and protection of their rightful identity, as much as the people of Zanznibar enjoy these inalienable rights, to the extent of their latest constituonal amendment which amounts to pulling out of the so called "Union", SPARING only the links whoch protect their parasitic advantages which are painful yoke on the neck of our mother Tanganyika, being such a political, economic and social tragedy.
We are by copy of this memorandum asking the accountable ministers and the governor of the central bank which is known to have heavily invested in Zanzibar using Tanganyika's resources, to avail the data as promptly as is required in public intrest.
